David Castro, bronze in the Alanya Triathlon World Cup
The Spanish David Castro starred in a splendid performance in the World Cup, achieving the final third place.
This past Sunday, the Alanya Triathlon, in Turkey where the Swiss Sven Reiderer got the victory followed by the Italian Alessandro Fabian and from Spanish David Castro
After completing the two laps of swimming, the Dutch Marco Van Der Stel came out of the water in first position, closely followed by the Russian Dmitry Polyanskiy (recent winner of the Grand Final of the European Cup held a week ago in Madrid) and followed a few seconds away by the Spanish David Castro and Vicente Hernández.
In the course of the cycling segment, a large leading group remained at the front of the race during the five laps of this section of the competition. A total of 42 triathletes in which included Hernández, Castro and Godoy arrived at the T2 as a group.
Once in the race the Frenchman Dorian Coninx came out in the lead, but at the end of the first one a group of fifteen triathletes got to him. Halfway through the segment the Swiss Sven Reiderer was escaping alone followed by the Italian Alessandro Fabian and the Spanish David Castro .
The Swiss Reiderer would take the victory, with Fabian claiming the silver medal six seconds behind the winner. In an intense dispute in a final sprint with the French Raphael Montoya, David Castro emerged the winner and won the bronze medal; thus obtaining his first podium in a World Cup.
As long as Cesc Godoy, entered the Top-20 when crossing the finish line in 18ª position. For his part, Ricardo Hernández reached the 27ª square and Vicente Hernández was classified in 33ª position.
