Ivan Raña wins the Ironman of Cozumel

Iván Raña is already a man of iron. The triathlete of Ordes yesterday made his debut in the long distance with a triumph in the Ironman of Cozumel, Mexico, in a "first step", of Galician in this new discipline.

After its exhibition in Lanzarote's Ironman 70.3 (medium distance), the big question was how to respond in the long distance. And the result could not be better. With a time of eight hours, fifteen minutes and seven seconds, Ordes confirms that he is on the right track in his intention to compete next year in the Iroman of Hawaii, his great challenge for 2013.

Raña came to T2 eleventh place with a time of 5: 30.06. But his exhibition began in the race on foot, where he rallied positions to the sixth position in the early stages. At kilometer seven he was third, four minutes from the lead.

With a stratospheric race pace, 3: 44 the minute, Raña was at the head of the race, at kilometer 14 it was already in the lead. From there the one of Ordes did not let escape his first victory in an Ironman.

With three Olympic diplomas under her belt, Raña decided to turn her sports career around after running out of the Olympics for the last London 2012 event. He bet strong for the Ironman and he was not wrong. Raña never frowned on new challenges. In 2009 he signed up as a cyclist in the Xacobeo Galicia ranks. After that experience he returned to triathlon. Now it faces a new horizon.
