Despite not swimming well, Long managed to lead the race in the last 30 km of the cycling segment, reaching T2 with 1:30 ahead of the chasing group of Sanders, Laundry and T.O'Donnell.

just two weeks ago, Sam Long announced that he was leaving his coach, Dan Plews, after three months of collaboration.
