Duel in the sun at Calima Desafio Posadas

Almost a thousand trials will start tomorrow

One more year, and 27 is already publishing, Posadas becomes the epicenter of the summer triathlon, with an appointment that is marked in red in the summer calendar of this sport. This small Cordovan municipality turns over and takes to the streets to encourage the participants of one of the most traditional triathlons.

The appointment is double, for the fourth consecutive year, with the dispute of Triathlon Iron Caliphs (fourth scoring round for the Andalusian 2015 Triathlon Circuit) and the Calima Challenge Posadas.

The first is in sprint distance (750 meters swimming, 20 cycling and 5 running), while the second is medium distance (swimming 1,9 kms, pedaling 90 kilometers by bike to finish running half marathon). As already happened in 2014, this year both tests are also held on the same day and practically simultaneously.

The participants of the Calima will go to the 8h30 of the Pantano de la Breña, in Hornachuelos. An hour and a half later, at the 10, the departure of the Iron Caliphs will take place. The winner is expected to arrive at the 11 in the morning, while the 12h25 is expected to appear first in the challenge.

Last year, the Iron Caliph Triathlon in the men's category took him Samer Ali-Saad. In the female category, the victory was for Rocío Molas. Both aspire to revalidate the triumph achieved in 2014. Try to avoid Camilo Puertas, Pedro Lumbreras, Alejandro Cañas, Germán Rodríguez, Pedro Serrano and young Ignacio González (who comes from last week winning the Triathlon of Estepona) in boys. And in girls Natalia Fischer (winner of the Triathlon Villa del Agua two weeks ago) and María Rojo.

While the Calima Desafío Posadas was for Javier Iglesias in guys and Beatriz Jiménez in girls. Sergio Cruz (winner of Desafío Doñana'14) and Andrés Carnevali (starting in the middle distance) will be the men to follow in this edition. Beatriz Jiménez will seek to revalidate her title in the female category.

This small Cordovan town, with a little more than 7.000 inhabitants, increases its population in a single day, with the presence of almost a thousand participants, plus their companions. The 18% of those registered are from the province, while the rest come from outside, with the consequent economic impact that it has on the municipality in terms of overnight stays and meals. Outstanding is the international presence, with an 6% of the triathletes that will take the start coming from outside our borders.

The Posadas Triathlon will be a party not only for Sports, but also for the large number of parallel activities that will take place on Saturday. Starting with the triathlete fair, in which many brands exhibit the latest news, even musical performances in the finish area. A day for the whole family to enjoy triathlon and Posadas.

The Califas de Hierro Triathlon and the Calima Desafío Posadas are organized by Posadas City Council and OFSport, in collaboration with the Andalusian Triathlon Federation, the Diputación de Córdoba, the City Councils of Almodóvar del Río, Hornachuelos and Palma del Río, Civil Protection, Coca Cola, Europa FM, Nutrisport and Hair Cycles.
