Madrid, capital of the bicycle with the celebration of #UNIBIKE14

The Fair will be held from the 19 to the 21 of September in the 12 and 14 pavilions of Feria de Madrid

 

 

The Bicycle Fair, #UNIBIKE14, organized by IFEMA and AMBE - Association of Bicycle Brands of Spain - and promoted by Last Lap and Expobike Solutions, opens its doors from the 19 to the 21 in September to present professionals and the general public with the offer of more than 500 bicycle brands. In this way, the 12 and 14 pavilions of Feria de Madrid become for three days the best showcase for the bicycle industry to present the latest developments and designs for next year.

 

Triathlon News collaborators will be with Stand and that is a good opportunity to see first-hand the news for this season.

 

In addition to the leading brands in the design and manufacture of bicycles, UNIBIKE also makes available to visitors the latest in accessories, accessories and cycling equipment, as well as electric and urban bikes circuits; vial education; Bike Trial demonstrations; Flatland competitions; health and nutrition; presentations; workshops; round tables; contests; technology and biomechanics applied to cycling; clubs; federations, among others.

 

A fair that dedicates its first day -from 9.00 to 20.00 hours- exclusively to professionals, and opens its doors to the general public over the weekend, from 10.00 to 20.30h, on Saturday, and from 10.00 to 16.00h, on Sunday, to give to know the latest news and designs of this exciting industry.

The Bicycle Fair, #UNIBIKE14, It allocates a large space for the #activitiesFestibike that are held within the framework of the Hall. Competitions, exhibitions and attractive indoor and outdoor proposals aimed at all audiences; paradise for cycling fans.

 

Looping Bike, an impressive circular ramp in which those interested, with the help of a mountain bike, a harness and a monitor can take one or several turns of 360º according to the speed given to the pedals. A participatory activity, free and only for the most daring.

 

Exhibitions of Bike Trial WD-40 hand in hand with ten times Biketrial world champion, Dani Comas. In this modality, derived from the motorcycle trials, the pilot must overcome the obstacles trying to make with his bicycle the minimum number of supports with the feet. In addition, Dani Comas will try to beat a new world record of high jump with exit launched on a spectacular structure never seen - Saturday at 12.00h-.

 

For Expert and Pro level riders, Unibike puts at your disposal an innovative and spectacular Bike Park BMX to enjoy freestyle BMX. A space that will have a full program of activities, courses, exhibitions and competitions.

 

Mini Bike Park BMX and Scooters exclusively for the smallest freestyle fans. Unibike and 360º Bicycles will make bikes and scooters available to visitors so they can enjoy this space and its different freestyle modules. In addition, for young people between 8 and 14 years lovers of BMX and scooters, initiation courses and refinement of technique will be held.

 

Throughout the weekend riders from Flatland They will hold different exhibitions and a competition with the best specialists will be held. This specialty is a freestyle BMX style made on flat and smooth surfaces that do not include any type of ramps, jumps, or railings. The tricks are performed by turning and balancing on the bike in a variety of unexpected positions.

Urban cycling will also be present at Unibike with Unibike Track Bike Criterium, a race in line on a circuit of 1km, around the pavilions of the Fair, with 30-40 bikers from all over Spain and an approximate duration of 20-25 minutes competition.

 

UNIBIKE also wants to promote the use of bicycles from an early age and for this reason it makes available to children Children's bicycle circuit, a closed circuit and oriented for children between 4 and 8 years old. In this it will be possible to test children's range bicycles, from corridors through bikes with wheels and even 20 ”models.

 

The Bicycle Fair will have among its activities the spectacular Cyclodrome, a reduced velodrome that combines speed, control of the bike, strategy and a good physical condition to be able to shoot and compete at the top. 

 

El Scott Big Air Bag  It will be one of the most impressive activities in which the public will enjoy watching unthinkable jumps. A space where riders will throw their best tricks off a jump ramp to fall on a giant inflatable mattress that will cushion the reception.

 

The main brands of electric and urban bicycles will be able to test their models in the Demo test circuit Electric and urban bikes, a closed circuit of 400 meters inside the 14 pavilion.

 

The Fitness sector also has its space in Unibike and more especially the indoor cycling. Thus, a series of participatory activities and Master Class are scheduled, in addition to the Unibike Indoor Cycle Matrix Seminar, the first training program that combines indoor cycling from outdoor cycling, with the best speakers in the sector and with the most innovative program.

 

El Pump track modular will be in Unibike with a fun circuit, complete and suitable for all levels. The layout will have an "L" design with four sections of waves and its four corresponding cant but with different angles. Several activities are scheduled from competitions to short courses for the youngest or initiated.

 

El Hitachi Duathlon Cross It will be one of the participatory events of Unibike, which will be held on Sunday 21, at the 10.00h, in the Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I. A discipline that combines athletics and mountain biking, with a distance of 4km in the first race segment on foot, 14 km of mountain bike and 2 km to finish again with running.

 

Also, Unibike and the Madrileña Federation of Cycling have joined forces to organize the XII Edition of the Cicloturista March of the Community of Madrid. A march with a route of 106 kms that will leave and arrive at Ifema crossing the municipalities of Ajalvir, Daganzo, Fuente el Saz, Paracuellos -domingo 21 of September to the 9.00h-.

 

In parallel, AMBE - Association of Brands and Bicycles of Spain - organizes a series of presentations, round months and days. In this way, the stage of the 12 pavilion will host the Unibike Forum with interesting conferences about novelties in the Fair, tourism and bicycle, mobility in transformation and urban bike. Likewise, in the Unibike University Technical seminars will be held during the three days of the Fair.

 

The bicycle industry

According to the first edition of Cifras Sector Cycling published by AMBE, in 2013 the number of bicycles sold in Spain was 1.034.374 units, which represents a fall of around 7,5% with respect to 2012. However, the turnover of the entire sector, including components and accessories, increased by 2,48%, while the average price of bicycles increased by 8%.

 

According to this same study, mountain bikes continue to be the best-selling type of bicycle, with 63% of total sales, followed by children's bikes (18%) and road bikes (10%). AMBE also highlights the strong growth that the urban and electric bicycle sector is experiencing, although last year they only had a market share of 7% and 1%, respectively.

 

41% of bicycle sales in Spain during 2013 were made in specialized stores; 34%, in sports product distribution chains; and the remaining 25%, in large areas of shopping centers. The study published by AMBE also provides other very interesting data: a total of 250 companies operate in the Spanish cycling market, 3.000 stores have been registered that sell products from the bicycle sector and there are about 14.000 people working in this market segment.
