The ex-cyclist Manuel Beltrán wins the I Duathlon Ciudad de Jáen

The former professional cyclist from Jaén Manuel Beltrán, who has played for Mapei, Banesto, Discovery Chanell and Liquigas, has achieved victory in the first edition of the Ciudad de Jaén Duathlon and, in this way, fulfilled the forecast that he was given as favorite to achieve victory.

Beltrán, 40, dominated the 39-kilometer route with authority (20 for mountain biking and 19 for running) and gained a three-minute lead over former runner José Luis Carrasco Gámiz at the finish line.

The third position in the Jaén race was awarded to Iván Ortiz from Malaga, who a weeks ago won the Andalusian Mountain Racing Cup and who reached the finish line four minutes away.

The fourth and fifth positions corresponded to Marco Antonio Cuesta from Granada and Iván Tejero from Malaga, international with the Spanish duathlon and triathlon teams, respectively.

In the female category, Patricia Bueno, from the Emotion team from Jaén, was the first and surpassed Eva Sánchez from Almeria in four minutes.

One hundred athletes from Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha and Valencia participated in this first edition of the City of Jaén Duathlon.
