The ex-cyclist Manuel Beltrán wins the I Duathlon Ciudad de Jáen

The ex-professional cyclist from Jaén Manuel Beltrán, who has played for Mapei, Banesto, Discovery Chanell and Liquigas, has achieved victory in the first edition of the Ciudad de Jaén Duathlon and, in this way, fulfilled the forecast that he was given as favorite to win.

Beltrán, 40, dominated the 39-kilometre route with authority (20 on the mountain bike and 19 on the run) and obtained a three-minute advantage at the finish line over fellow former runner José Luis Carrasco Gámiz.

Third position in the event from Jaén was awarded to Iván Ortiz from Málaga, who a few weeks ago won the Andalucía Cup for Mountain Racing and reached the finish line after four minutes.

The fourth and fifth positions corresponded to Marco Antonio Cuesta from Granada and Iván Tejero from Malaga, international with the Spanish duathlon and triathlon teams, respectively.

In the female category, Patricia Bueno, from the Emotion team from Jaén, was the first and surpassed Eva Sánchez from Almeria in four minutes.

One hundred athletes from Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha and Valencia participated in this first edition of the City of Jaén Duathlon.
