The ex-cyclist Manuel Beltrán wins the I Duathlon Ciudad de Jáen
The former professional cyclist from Jaén Manuel Beltrán, who has played for Mapei, Banesto, Discovery Chanell and Liquigas, has achieved victory in the first edition of the Jaén City Duathlon and, in this way, fulfilled the prediction that he gave as favorite to achieve victory.
Beltrán, 40, dominated the 39-kilometer route with authority (20 on a mountain bike and 19 on foot) and gained a three-minute lead at the finish line over fellow former runner José Luis Carrasco Gámiz.
The third position in the Jaen event was awarded to Iván Ortiz from Malaga, who a few weeks ago won the Andalusian Mountain Racing Cup and who reached the finish line four minutes away.
The fourth and fifth positions corresponded to Marco Antonio Cuesta from Granada and Iván Tejero from Malaga, international with the Spanish duathlon and triathlon teams, respectively.
In the female category, Patricia Bueno, from the Emotion team from Jaén, was first and beat Eva Sánchez from Almería in four minutes.
One hundred athletes from Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha and Valencia participated in this first edition of the City of Jaén Duathlon.
