The Portocolom Triathlon with the most powerful start list in its over 20 years of history

There are 1.000 triathletes enrolled among the various weekend events

To 9 days of its celebration, the Portocolom Triathlon already has one of the most powerful output lists of its 22 years of history with a large list of triathletes in elite category.

In addition to the expected returns of Michael Van Cleven, who will seek his fifth victory in Portocolom, or that of the German Markus Hormann, winner in 2014, highlight the names of Timothy Van Houtem, Jarmo Rissanen, Domenico Passuello, Andrej Vistica o Milosz Sowinski, among many others, besides the Balearics Carlos López y Joan Nadal: Iñaqui Pena-Manso, runner-up of Spain of medium distance.

In the women's category there will also be an interesting fight for the victory in the distance 111 (1 km of swimming, 100 km of cycling and 10 km of running) between a usual podium, the German Jenny Schulz, second and third in 2017 and 2018, respectively, the British company based in Felanitx Caroline Livesey, the Polish Joanna Soltysiak, the Switzerland Emma Bilham, Irene Coletto, the sisters Nina and Michelle Derron and up to 10 more women, in what supposes the best list of exit of its history.

Between the 1.000 registered triathletes to enjoy in Mallorca the different tests during the weekend of one of the first triathlons of the European calendar, the Triathlon of Portocolom, highlights the presence of more than 40 in elite category that will fight for the victories in the distance 'queen' the next April 14, which will take them to complete 111 kilometers (1 km of swimming, 100 km of cycling and 10 km of running on foot).

It will be, without a doubt, one of the lists of exit of greater level, by quantity and quality, in the history of this traditional Balearic triathlon, that year after year is the best valued by the local triathletes. The town of Portocolom, in Felanitx, will host a beautiful sports fight both in men and women, where the two big favorites are Michael Van Cleven and Jenny Schulz.

The Belgian Van Cleven will try to continue making history achieving its fifth consecutive victory, although this year he had to overcome some physical problems that have delayed his preparation. In spite of everything, his experience and the absolute control he has over the distance and over the peculiar bike circuit and his double and demanding climb to Sant Salvador, will be a guarantee to see him fighting, again, for the triumph.

The German Markus Hormann, winner at 2014, comes to this appointment very strong and also knows the terrain perfectly after having spent long seasons training and living in Felanitx. Another classic of the race, the Belgian Timothy Van Houtem, returns to one of his favorite scenarios, accumulating wins in distance Ironman (Challenge Madrid in 2018). Other important names will include Finland's Jarmo Rissanen, former Italian cyclist Domenico Passuello, Croatian Andrej Vistica, German Christian Altstadt, Polish Milosz Sowinski, Swede Andreas Linden, Italian Jonathan Ciavattella, and Frenchman Baptiste Neveu.

The Balearic Islands Carlos López and Joan Nadal will also start the triathlon season, which will surely take the competition to the top as a starting point for a hopeful year for the two. The Galician Iñaki Pena-Manso, runner-up of Spain of medium distance will be, without a doubt, one of the outstanding protagonists the 14 of April.

In the female category we will live the edition with a Largest number of elite triathletes registered in these 22 editions.

The second classified in 2017 and third in 2018, and European duathlon champion, the German Jenny Schulz, returns to Club Nautic de Portocolom ready to achieve his first win at 2019. Even though Caroline Livesey, British based in Felanitx, and other high level athletes such as the Polish Joanna Soltysiak, the Swiss Emma Bilham (returns to the competition after a few months of recovery), the Italian Irene Coletto, or the sisters Nina and Michelle Derron, do not know They will not make it easy for the German triathlete. Flora Colledge, Katherine Renouf, Celine Schaerer, Stefania Sica, Federica de Nicola or Verena Walter complete the list of favorites.

In the 55.5 category, highlights the presence of the Swiss Sabrina Stadelman, winner of 2018, or British Mark Livesey, third in the last edition.

The two tests on 111 and 55.5 km will take the triathletes the next 14 in April to the same routes as in the past editions. Those registered to the 111 will have to give two laps to the cycling circuit while those of the 55.5 will only give one, climbing only once the 494 meters of Sant Salvador. Swimming will be again in the crystal clear waters of Club Nautic de Portocolom, while the final walking race of 5 or 10 km will have the goal in the urban heart of this Mediterranean town.

In addition to the two tests there will also be a duathlon for minors (TriKids) on Saturday 13 in April, the largest participation of the Balearic Islands, which also has open registrations.
