Emilio Martín will seek in Cali (Colombia) his second consecutive title of World Champion

Emilio Martín will look for this Saturday (9: 00 local time, seven more hours in Spain) to validate the triumph of last year and get his second consecutive title of duathlon world champion. Only four duathletes have managed to repeat the world's twist so far.

The Huelva is the main favorite of a test in which, in addition, another Spaniard like Roger Roca (which preceded Martin's rainbow jersey). The "Navy" is completed by the Sevillian Sergio Lorenzo, what good performance also gave last year ending in the Top Ten. The main threats to our people come from the Belgian Antoine Duvivier and from French Benoit Nicolas, second and third respectively in Nancy.

The current champion of the world of the specialty comes to get this season the triumphs in the duathlons of Seville, Gernika, Punta Umbría and the championship of Spain in Pontevedra (venue next year of the World Cup), demonstrating that the set-up to revalidate the world title is on the right track: "My sensations are very good and the workouts have gone really well. It is normal this year to have the pressure of winning being the current champion and, although I do not want to obsess with revalidating the title, if I give one hundred percent the result will be positive".

Emilio Martín has been in Colombia for almost a week, adapting to the schedule, the conditions (Cali is 900 meters) and the temperature of a race that will start very early, at nine in the morning (four in the afternoon in Spain). A lot of humidity is expected although, as the current world champion recognizes, "to those conditions I am used to as I exercise close to home, in the Huelva coastal town of Punta Umbría".

The test (included in the program of the 2013 World Games) consists of a first part of the race on foot (10 kms), 40 kilometers of bicycle and finally other 5 kms running: "The circuits are not very complex but the expected cold and the possibility of rain may influence the final result. I hope this does not harm me and I can give 100% without problems".

The male elite race will be on Saturday 27 at 9h00 (16h00 in Spain. All information and updates can be followed through the website of the Cali'13 World Games:
