A national idol eager to move forward
National Duathlon Champion, double world champion and European champion, Emilio Martín became an obligatory reference within the duathlon.
His farewell to top competition came at the European Duathlon Championship in Bilbao in September 2022, where he finished sixth in the men's elite event.
That day, he was carried in the air by his teammates, an image that remained marked as his supposed professional farewell. However, a few months later, he faced the toughest test: a cancer diagnosis.
The words he shared on social media

Just a few days ago, he ran the Seville Half Marathon in 1 hour and 10 minutes, a spectacular achievement for someone who had just undergone such a complex recovery.
New plans, same fighting spirit
