Erik Merino wins the Ventoux Man

Yesterday was held in the French town of Piolenc (French pre-Alps) a new edition of the Ventoux Man, after last year's suspension by the wind, one of the toughest triathlons in Europe where the Catalan triatelle Erik Merino has won the test victory beating the record of it.

The test consisted of 1.9km of swimming in the lac of Piolenc, then 90 cycling kilometers with more than 2.200m of positive elevation and with the ascent to Mont Ventoux in the final part. This climb is considered one of the hardest in Europe and is very popular in the cycling world (the Tour de France raised it last year). To finish, 20 kilometers of running on foot with 450m of positive elevation gain at the Mont Serein ski resort.

Erik Merino has completed the course in a time of 5: 06 beating the record of the test followed by Christian Kramer (5:08:39) and from Kevin Runstadler (5: 13: 36) in third position. The Spanish Marcel Zamora (5: 27: 39) finished in a great fifth position

As for the female event, the winner has been Emma Pooley with a time of 5: 42: 28, and that was tenth of the general, followed by  Isabelle Ferrer (6: 01: 17) and for  Emma Bilham (6: 04: 31) occupying the third final place
