Spain obtains the Bronze in the European Championship of Mixed Relays Sub23 Triathlon

A vibrant final competition to close these two intense days that have shaped an exciting 2015 edition of the European Youth Triathlon and Sub23 Championship held in the town of Banyoles.

The Spanish team Sub23 has obtained this afternoon the bronze medal in the European Mixed Relay Triathlon Sub23 Championship. Anna Godoy has been in charge of opening the Spanish relay, leaving in the first positions of Estany de Banyoles after completing 250 m of swimming and settling during the cyclist circuit in the head group consisting of seven teams. Entering the stage of the race on foot, the Italian team and the Portuguese have achieved a gap with respect to the rest, while the Spanish was struggling from behind, and in a great final third, managed to ascend to third place and give the witness in a very profitable situation.

Then David Castro he has retained the third position, and in a splendid race segment he has managed to overcome his adversaries to pass the baton in first position, in a very tight relay and with several teams a few meters away. After the recent European Champion of Triathlon Sub23, it was the turn for Xisca Tous in a tough relay, which has included big runners.

Xisca Tous He has made a good post, occupying the first places, until the end of the cyclist route in which he has remained slightly off the top of the ranks. Still, the Spanish has fought with great tenacity to pass the last relay in fifth place.

Nan Oliveras, protagonist the day before of an incredible comeback, has once again demonstrated his great form, fighting throughout his post and recovering positions to get a worked and exciting bronze medal.

Up front, the Italians were intractable, with Ilaria Zane, Ricardo De Palma, Angelica Olmo and Delian Stateff taking the victory. Behind them, the British (represented by Issy Morris, Marc Austin, Zoe Thomas and Christopher Perham) also came back at the end of the competition to hang the silver medal. While the Spanish team carried out a remarkable teamwork of the Spaniards, who have offered a formidable performance in Banyoles, thus climbing to the third step of the podium of this continental championship.

End and end to a weekend full of action, with the Spanish triathletes becoming prominent players, establishing an international level and demonstrating a more than promising future for our young triathletes.

All this together with a first level organization, in which once again the city of Banyoles has been overturned both institutionally and by the involvement and contribution of its neighbors. Two exciting days in which the public has not ceased to encourage the triathletes during all competitions.
