Spain fourth in the mixed relay of the WTCS Abu Dhabi 2025
The best Spanish result in the history of mixed relay

The Triathlon World Series have started in style in Abu Dhabi on February 16, 2025.
The Spanish mixed relay, known as the Triarmada, has achieved fourth place, an unprecedented achievement for the national team.
This result puts Spain very close to the medals at the start of a season that promises great excitement, especially with the new Olympic cycle in mind leading up to Los Angeles 2028.
Penalty and comeback in Abu Dhabi
The Spanish team started out wanting to fight for the podium in the relay race.
The test consisted of several individual mini triathlons linked together: each member had to swim, roll in bike and run before handing over the baton to the next one.
During the relief of Anna Godoy, the Triarmada suffered a penalty for an incident during swimming. This forced one of the athletes to stop in the penalty box during his turn.
Despite this, David cantero He took over with the aim of keeping the Spanish team at the top of the table.
After a solid performance, the third post fell to Miriam Casillas, responsible for serving the penalty.
His work allowed Roberto Sánchez Mantecón start the final leg with hopes of a medal, placing the Triarmada just a few seconds away from bronze and gold.
Germany repeats its international hegemony
The victory went to Germany, which reaffirmed its dominance after winning gold at the last Paris Games.
It is surprising to see how, despite not having the same names as in 2024, the new generation of German triathletes managed to defend their gold medal.
With its fourth place, Spain confirms that the gap with the best has narrowed and leaves a warning for the rest of the competitors at the start of this season.
