FETRI donates €5.000 to the Ukrainian triathlon

Spain, best European junior team of the year, donates its prize in full to the Ukrainian triathlon

During this weekend it has been celebrated in La Nucía "Ciudad del Triatlón" the Conference of Presidents of the European Triathlon Federation, and with Spanish Federation of Triathlon as the main protagonist receive four of the awards awarded by the European Triathlon for the 2021 season.

These awards went to best European Federation of the year, to the mbest paratriathlete of the year (Olympic medalist in Tokyo 2020 Susana Rodriguez), to the best officer of the year (Carmen Gómez) and finally to the best junior selection from last season, awarded at the "Dinner for Peace" Gala that brought together all the European federations on Saturday night with solidarity with the Ukrainian triathlon as a background.

The award given to the best European junior team of the season is associated with a cash prize of $5.000, and that the Spanish Triathlon Federation, in the words of its president José Hidalgo, has decided toparticipate fully in the Ukrainian triathlon in these difficult times that you are living, “How could it be otherwise, we want to show our solidarity and commitment to the Ukrainian triathlon and its athletes.

For this reason, in addition to showing our firm support for our Ukrainian colleagues in our speeches and public statements, we wanted to go further and not remain just words and accompany it with tangible deeds.

And for this reason we donate in full the economic prize awarded to the FETRI for its results in 2021 to the Ukrainian triathletes, so that they can continue with their development and training in these difficult times that they are and are experiencing.".

The "European Triathlon Presidents Conference" that has been held this weekend in La Nucía, has had three days of activities that were inaugurated on Friday with the presence of the president of the European Triathlon Federation, Renato Bertrandi, the president of the World Triathlon, Marisol Casado, the mayor of La Nucía, Bernabé Cano, and the president of the FETRI, José Hidalgo.

During these days, the European Triathlon has analyzed the 2021 season and the objectives and strategies to be developed in 2022, and for the first time in person since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic
