FETRI will award €300 prizes to the fastest riders in the 2025 Spanish Duathlon Championship.

The Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) has just announced a new feature for the 2025 Spanish Individual Duathlon Championship to be held in Cáceres: the launch of the trophy and cash prize “Challenge 300. 3 segments, one goal”.

This incentive seeks to increase competitiveness and reward the athletes' efforts at each stage of the event.

What is the “300 Challenge”?

This innovative initiative will be recognized with a trophy and a cash prize of 300 euros to the male and female duathlete who has the most points at the end of the competition.

How do you get points? Simple: place in the top 10 in any of the three segments (first run, cycling, and second run).

The fastest athlete in each section will receive 11 points, the second-fastest 9 points, and so on down to the tenth-place finisher, who will receive 1 point.

The final tally will determine who takes home this new award, adding an extra layer of excitement to every moment of the race.

Greater spectacularity for athletes and the public

With the "300 Challenge," FETRI seeks to further foster spectacularity and strategy during the race, encouraging participants to fight until the last second of each segment.

This new incentive promises to keep both athletes and spectators glued to the circuit until the very end.

An incentive to raise the level of the national duathlon

These types of initiatives underscore the Federation's intention to strengthen duathlon at the national level, especially motivating elite athletes to give their best performance in all phases of the competition. The idea is that this additional effort will significantly improve the overall competitive level.

Next steps after Cáceres

Following the pilot test in Cáceres, FETRI will evaluate the reception of the "300 Challenge" with a view to possibly implementing it in future national competitions.

This new model is expected to become a standard in upcoming duathlon and triathlon events.
