Carol Routier and Cesc Godoy pass to the final of the Tiszaújváros World Cup

Both triathletes have agreed to the final of this Sunday 10 August after qualifying in seventh place in their respective semifinals.

 

 

The hectic Hungarian competition only gave the classification to the nine best triathletes from each of the semifinals, both in the men's and women's categories, in what was an exciting duel between the triathletes.

 

Routier again demonstrated his talent in the water, completing the 750 m swimming in first position. Next, the Banyoles triathlete would remain in the front group during the two laps of the cycling segment. After a quick exit of the second transition, Routier held on to the first places during the final stretch of 5 km of the race on foot, to finally cross the finish line in seventh position.

 

For his part, the current runner-up in the 2013 edition, Godoy was also the clear dominator in the swimming segment of his series, and like Routier, he was leading the sector. Godoy faced 20 cyclists' km run in the top positions of the front platoon comprised of 14 triathletes. Entering the final two laps of the race on foot, Godoy remained well placed to enter seventh place and thus get his pass to the final this coming Sunday.

 

While the other three Spaniards in the fray, Miriam Casillas, Ana Mariblanca and Vicente Hernández had worse luck and did not manage to qualify in their respective semifinals. In the second semifinal, after the swimming section, Madrid's Ana Mariblanca established herself in the chasing group along the cycling circuit, with a leading squad that was expanding her advantage.

 

After fighting throughout the competition, Mariblanca finished in 19ª position. For her part in the third semifinal, Miriam Casillas was very far away from the first places since the start of the competition, and despite her efforts to get back on track, the distances in a circuit as vertiginous as that of Tiszaújváros left her without options. reach the final; occupying the 16ª square of his semifinal.

 

Already in the last round of the day, Vicente Hernández was 33 seconds behind the leaders after the first segment, and he remained well positioned in the pursuing peloton during the first cycling lap. However, an untimely fall at the beginning of the second round left him without options and the Santa Crucero ended his participation in Hungarian lands in 16th position.
