Fornells recovers his triathlon with the Artiem Half Menorca

Fornells will once again wear its gala version to host this Sunday, with a new edition of the Artiem Half Minorca.

The island recovers one of the most relevant competitions at the Balearic level after a year of absence forced by COVID19 and does so with a participation that more than 400 registered distributed between the modalities of Half, Short and by relays.

The test, which once again places its date at the end of summer, coinciding with the end of the tourist season, represents a fantastic opportunity so that the participants take advantage of the sporting event to combine it with their vacations.

An ideal test to end the season

The Artiem Half Menorca is each year an exceptional event with which to end the triathlon season, while allowing you to discover the island.

In addition, another attraction of the test will be the coincidence with the gastronomic days that allow to know the Menorcan cuisine and that the organization will promote especially among the participants, thus promoting one more year the transversal versatility of the event so that the economic impact that it generates benefits different sectors of the Island.

The test, which is sponsored by the Foundation for the Promotion of Tourism in Menorca and the Tourist Agency of the Balearic Islands, has been officially presented this Monday in the same area that will serve as the arrival on Sunday, with the presence of the president of the Insular Council, Susana Mora, the mayor of Es Mercadal, Francesc Ametller, and the organizer of the event, Guiem Bosch.

Sunday the day of the competition

The triathlon will officially start on Saturday, from 14:19 p.m., with the delivery of numbers for the participants, available until 7.30:XNUMX p.m. On Sunday, starting at XNUMX am, the Half and Relay modalities will start on the promenade.

At 8.00 it will be the turn for the first exit of the Short modality, while at 8.10 it will be the time for the second exit Short and the female one.

On arrival at the finish line, all distances will find a 'finisher' experience that includes a batch of Menorcan products, one more year, offering participants the chance to get to know some of the island's own products.

The Half, which is the one that they will also compete in teams, consists of 1,9 kilometers of swimming, 90 kilometers by bicycle with three laps between Fornells, Mercadal and the Camí den Kane area, and 21 kilometers of running to finish, in the Fornells promenade.

El ShortsFor its part, it consists of 1 kilometer of swimming, 34 kilometers of cycling and 9 kilometers of running.

In addition, the organization of the test has been set as one of the objectives to fully fulfill its commitment as a company within the framework of the Biosphere Reserve, and therefore it will carry out the following actions: reduction and selective collection of the waste that is generated, Elimination as much as possible of single-use plastics, commitment to proximity products and suppliers and the management of signaling buoys of the race course in a way that does not generate any impact on the posidonia meadows, among other actions .

To guarantee the safety of the participants, a sanitary protocol has been established that includes, among other measures, the obligation to wear a mask until the moment before departure, the use of disinfectant gel and departure with a safety distance, among others.
