Madrid Triathlon Gala 2024: Awards and recognitions

La Madrid Triathlon Federation celebrated yesterday, November 21st, Madrid Triathlon Gala 2024, an event that recognized the achievements of clubs, athletes and prominent figures of regional triathlon during the season.

The event took place in the Auditorium of the CTO Group Business School and highlighted the importance of sport as a means of integration, effort and improvement.

An Event to Celebrate the Values ​​of Triathlon

The president of the Madrid Triathlon Federation, Ramiro Lahera, opened the gala by welcoming attendees and highlighting the values ​​that make triathlon a unique sport, emphasizing the pride of belonging to a diverse and united sports community, as well as highlighting the team that works day to day within the Federation to make this possible.

 “Triathlon is a sport that welcomes everyone, encourages integration and promotes a healthy lifestyle,” said Lahera.

During the gala, a video summary of the 2024 season was shown, highlighting the best moments experienced in the different competitions of the year.

The president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation, José Hidalgo, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the pride they feel for the athletes who are part of the triathlon family and for the growth that this sport has had in recent years.

 “We are triathletes and we have to feel proud of our achievements,” said Hidalgo, encouraging the attendees to continue supporting the development of the discipline.

Recognition for the Best Clubs and Athletes

During the gala, awards were given to the best clubs in both the men's and women's categories.

In the Women's Club Ranking 2024, Squali Carabanchel Triathlon took first place, followed by Devils Triathlon Club of Rivas as AD Triathlon Ecosport Alcobendas.

In the men's category, the Devils Triathlon Club of Rivas was crowned champion, with the Tri Infinity Móstoles as AD Triathlon Ecosport Alcobendas completing the podium.

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of the awards School Triathlon Circuit 2024, where clubs that have encouraged youth participation in triathlon were recognized.

El Devils Triathlon Club of Rivas shone again, taking first place in the school ranking, followed by Breathesport as Triathlon Club 401.

Tributes to Outstanding Figures of the Madrid Triathlon

The gala was also a time to pay tribute to several figures who have made significant contributions to triathlon in Madrid and Spain.

The trajectory of Alberto Blanco Abruña, official in regional, national and international tests, and the achievements of Pelayo Gonzalez Turrez, who became the youngest Spanish Olympic Triathlon champion in history at just 20 years old, and Javier Martín Morales, Duathlon world champion in Townsville and European runner-up in Coimbra 2024.

The last recognition of the night went to Carolina Dominguez Munoz, technical director of the Madrid Triathlon Federation, for her outstanding contribution to the development of sport in the region.

Looking Ahead: The 2025 Season

To close the gala, a video about the 2025 season was presented, where the president made a statement of intent. In addition, some of the most anticipated events were highlighted, such as the Great Triathlon Madrid, which will continue to be one of the most important and participatory events of the year.

Ramiro Lahera emphasized the importance of continuing to grow and promote triathlon, both locally and by attracting international athletes along with the collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Triathlon and local authorities that support a sport for all and work to promote popular triathlon and women's sport.

The 2024 Madrid Triathlon Gala made it clear that triathlon in the Community of Madrid is more alive than ever, with a promising future thanks to the joint efforts of athletes, clubs, federations and all those who support this sport.
