Garmin, a world leader in portable navigation solutions *, has confirmed that for yet another year it has become the main sponsor of one of the most important sporting events nationwide: Garmin Barcelona Triathlon.
A test that reaches its third edition in 2011 and that has already established itself as the most massive triathlon in our country, the third in Europe, after London and Hamburg, and the fifth worldwide.
In the words of Natalia Cabrera, Garmin Iberia Marketing Director: “We are very happy to once again sponsor this important event that has garnered great international success and has already become a reference in the world of triathlon for both amateur athletes and athletes. for professionals ”.
Record of participants
For this year, the organization hopes to exceed the number of registrants of the last edition, which exceeded 5.000, and reach 5.500 or 6.000. Among them, they will surely repeat some of the top-level athletes who have been present during past editions and who have always finished at the top of the classification.
This is the case, for example, of Javier Gómez Noya, who won the 2010 men's Olympic event; Mario Mola, Marcel Zamora or Xavier Llobet, who acted as a collaborator in the organization of the Garmin Barcelona Triathlon and advised the participants through the web during the last months.
The elite triathletes were represented by the British Jodie Stimpson and the Spanish Marina Daimlamcourt and Carolina Routier (who finished second and third, respectively).
This edition of the Garmin Barcelona Triathlon will take place between October 14 and 16, allocating the first two days to collecting the numbers and the tri-expo of the event, and the third to the competition, which will present a very similar route to 2010.
This event also stands out for being the only one in the city that has several modalities depending on the distance covered: Olympic, with 1.500 m of swimming, 40 km of cycling and 10 km of running; Sprint, with 750 m of swimming, 20 km of running bike and 5 km jogging; and Supersprint, with 400 m in the aquatic environment, 10 km for cycling and 2,5 km for running.
On the other hand, the Corporate Tri Challenge team relay event takes place, a formula to motivate amateur athletes who do not have the level to complete an entire triathlon but are capable of doing a part.
