Gwen Jorgensen returns to racing at New Plymouth

It will be the first World Cup of the season

Has the goal of qualifying and representing the USA in the Mixed Relay Triathlon event

After podium achieved by the Olympic triathlon champion in 2016 Gwen Jorgensen in Taupo (New Zealand), the North American returns to the scene in the first World Cup in New Plymouth Also in New Zealand.

The test will be played this Winners will be announced in March and it will be the scene of the first race on the calendar of the Triathlon World Cup circuit.

With the Olympic qualification at stake for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, there will be a large international participation in search of the valuable Olympic points.

The race runs on sprint distance which starts at Ngamotu Beach, with a 750m swim (1 lap), 20km bike ride (4 laps) and a 5km run (3 laps).

In the women's event we find triathletes like Erika Acklerlund, Sandra Dodet, nicole van der,  Kaay Jaz and Kira Hedgeland, gina serene, sophie linn, Charlotte McShane o Amelia Kretz among others.

Spain will have 4 representatives Noelia Juan, Marta Pintanel, Anna Godoy y Sarah Guerrero.

Gwen Jorgensen, the 2016 Olympic champion, returns to triathlon at New Plymouth after retiring in 2016 to pursue the marathon and become a mother of two.

Jorgensen is seeking to qualify and represent the USA in the Mixed Relay Triathlon event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In the men's event they are on the start list Hayden Wilde, Makota Odakura the Spanish David Castro, Seth rider, Ricardo Batista ,Tyler Mislawchuk, Jake Birtwhisle, Crisanto Grajales  o Ben Dijkstra among others.

The New Plymouth World Cup will be held at the following times

  • Female test: 11:00 (23:00 Spanish time)
  • Male test: 13:30 (1:30 Spanish time)
