The Great Madrid Triathlon exceeds 2700 registrations and becomes a participation success
Last Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30, the largest competition in the Madrid triathlon took place, and the largest in the national popular triathlon.
With 2700 participants, the celebration of the Great Triathlon Madrid It was a success in all aspects, with a volume of popular athletes of more than 73%.
On Friday, the runner's fair and the bib delivery were at full capacity to welcome the athletes who came to get participation material and obtain information about the competition.
Saturday session
On Saturday, the day began at 7 in the morning with the distribution of numbers, to continue with the competitive program, the start of the sprint test was at 8:50 a.m. and the start of the standard competition at 9:20 a.m. The day ended with the Women's Triathlon, which started at 13:13 p.m., and the Super Sprint test, which started at 15:XNUMX p.m. The awards ceremonies took place at the scheduled times, with almost full podiums in all modalities.
21% of the participants were female, exceeding the number of previous editions and significantly increasing participation in the standard modality. It stands out that the largest competition was the Sprint, which gathered 55% of the total participation of the day.
In the afternoon, the youngest athletes competed in the incredible setting of the Casa de Campo, beginning with the cadet and youth events, and in descending order for infants and juveniles, ending with the non-competitive benjamín and prebenjamín events.
In addition to the athletes who competed, throughout the day the Casa de Campo was filled with fans who came to see their families. A massive attendance of the public that gave an excellent atmosphere to the competitions.
Sunday day
On Sunday, the team time trial competition took place, in which the first participants to start were the popular non-federated teams to continue with the federated teams and finish with the Madrid Championship, in which the best clubs were the Tri Infinity Móstoles in the men's category and the Squali Carabanchel Triathlon in the women's category, completing the men's podium Club Triatlón 401 Tetrasod and Club Triatlón Boadilla Be One and the women's Tri Infinity Móstoles and Marlins Triatlón Madrid.
Both days of competition passed without incident and the competitors were able to feel part of the Madrid triathlon party, the Gran Triatlón Madrid.
