Gurutze Frades and Marta Sánchez, the Spanish athletes at the IRONMAN World Championship in Nice

Spanish triathletes Gurutze Frades y Marta Sanchez will compete this Sunday, September 22, in the prestigious 2024 Vinfast HOMBRE DE HIERRO® World Championship in Nice, one of the most important events in the calendar triathlon worldwide.
This will be the second consecutive time that the French city hosts this championship, bringing together this time the best professional triathletes in the world and all age groups in a unique setting such as the Côte d'Azur.
Gurutze Frades and Marta Sánchez: Experience and Youth in Nice
At 43 years Gurutze Frades arrives in Nice to compete in her seventh IRONMAN world championship, consolidating her position as one of the most experienced athletes on the circuit.
Frades, a three-time top 10 finisher in the 2024 IRONMAN Pro Race Series, is the reigning IRONMAN Cozumel champion and one of the favorites to excel in the competition.
Her best World Championship finish was 9th in 2022, when the race was held in Saint George due to the pandemic.
For its part, Marta SanchezThe 29-year-old will make his World Championship debut following a year of strong achievements including victory at the IRONMAN African Championship in South Africa and sixth place at the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship in Tallinn, Estonia.
His rapid progress makes Sánchez one of the young prospects to watch out for in Nice.

A prestigious World Championship in Nice
The VinFast IRONMAN World Championship features more than 50 of the world's best female triathletes competing for the coveted title of IRONMAN World Champion and a share of the $375.000 prize pool.
In addition, this test is part of the IRONMAN Pro Series, where there will be 6.000 points at stake.
The course in Nice is one of the most spectacular on the IRONMAN World circuit.
The triathletes will begin with a swim in the Mediterranean Sea, then take on a demanding cycling circuit that passes through the villages of Vence, Gourdon and Tourettes-sur-Loup, with technical climbs and then down the "Route de Thorenc" and the impressive "Clues de Gréolières".
Finally, the running race will take place on a four-lap circuit along the Promenade des Anglais.
