The athlete has publicly announced the difficult situation she is going through, a double blow that forces her to take a break from her successful career. In addition to the recent surgery she underwent, she has also unfortunately suffered the death of her father.

A health problem that required intervention

This fibroid had caused her discomfort throughout the season, undoubtedly affecting her performance, despite which she demonstrated her great professionalism by always finishing among the top 10 in the three competitions she competed in before the World Championships in Nice.

The seriousness of the situation made emergency surgery necessary, and a cesarean section was finally performed due to the size of the fibroid. A hard emotional blow: the death of his father

As if the medical situation were not complicated enough, Gurutze had to deal with the death of his father in the same week. An irreparable loss that has added deep emotional pain to his already delicate state of health.

In a message posted on his Instagram account, Gurutze Frades expressed his pain and gratitude for the support received: “Pain can be felt in different ways and right now I am suffering both emotionally and physically.

This week, after many days and weeks, my father passed away after fighting so hard because of an operation that went completely wrong. Horrible and distressing days for him and for all of us who loved him.

 The emotional pain I feel is indescribable and the grief is enormous. He leaves a huge void in me and I already miss him so much.

But sometimes things can get a little more complicated. After the Ironman in Nice, I had some gynaecological tests done and a fibroid detected in my uterus some time ago had grown a lot.

 It had been a problem for me all year. This week I had an operation to remove it. The fibroid was so big that I had to have a caesarean section to get it out. So the emotional pain was compounded by physical pain.

I don't know how long it will take me to recover. I hope that with time things will feel calmer.
