Guruze Frades seventh at IRONMAN 70.3 St George

The Spanish triathlete Gurutze Frades has achieved a creditable seventh place in the women's category of the IRONMAN 70.3 St George, held last Saturday in Utah, United States.

Frades completed the test, which consisted of 1,9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21,1 km of running, in a total time of 4:21:15.

The women's event began with a swimming segment dominated by Kate Curran, who set a time of 25:46 at the head of a group of 4 women that was closed by Paula Findlay.

Frades, for her part, was affected by a problem in her neck area that forced her to swim with less intensity, losing 3:30 minutes compared to the leader.

Despite the initial disadvantage, Frades demonstrated his great ability in cycling, making up positions and arriving at T2 in 13th position, 15 minutes from the head of the race.

In the foot race, the Spaniard shone again, completing a partial time of 1:35:23 that allowed her to climb to seventh final position.

Sam Long and Paula Findlay win the test

In the men's category, the American Sam long won with a time of 3:39:17, while the Canadian Paula Findlay took the victory in the women's category with a time of 4:09:27.
