Gustav Iden against Jonathan Brownlee in the Quarteira European Cup

This Saturday a new edition of the Triathlon European Cup.

The competition will feature presence of some of the best triathletes in the world, and promises to be a top-level sporting event.

In the starting list we find Gustav Iden, current IRONMAN world champion, and JJonathan Brownlee, ITU world champion and Olympic bronze in 2012, as well as Olympic gold in Mixed Relay in 2021.

Great lineup of professionals

The two athletes, considered among the best in the world, will face each other in this test that is disputed over Olympic distance.

The Norwegian Iden, 26, is looking to make up for his disappointing result in Abu Dhabi three weeks ago, where he finished in the last positions and with a protest about his shoes.

For his part, the British Brownlee, 32, makes his debut this season and arrives with great motivation to achieve a good result.

In the elite men's event, the Spanish Tri-Armada attends with six representatives: Ángel Sánchez, Esteban Basanta, David Cantero, Andrés Prieto, Ander Noain and Kevin Tarek Viñuela, who will seek to play a good role in a high-level race.

In the women's event, the name to follow will be the French Cassandre Beagraund, although the attention will also be on the Spanish triathletes

Cecilia Santamaría she will lead the team after her 4th place in Melilla, and will be accompanied by María Casals, Natalia Castro, Elsa Pena, Sofia Aguayo, Paula del Pozo and Lucía Acosta.

The Quarteria European Cup will be held at the following times.

  • Female test: 13:45, 14:45 in Spain
  • Male test: 16:30, 17:30 Spanish time
