This afternoon the second edition of the Triathlon La Rioja with the victory of Gustavo Rodríguez y Judith Corachán, who chain their peculiar "tripe-double" since both have won 3 big triathlons in the past 21 days
. Last week both won the victory in the Triathlon of Zarautz and the weekend of the 26 and 27 of May, Gustavo won the Cto de España de MD de Guadalajara and Judith the Challenge Salou.
The race began at 14:00 PM with the women's start, where the trio formed by Sara Bonilla, Maria Pujol and Judith Corachán She arrived at T1 in a strong position. At that moment, a beautiful sight could be seen with three Spanish champions (from various distances and disciplines: Sprint, Duathlon, Middle Distance, and Long Distance) together. After the 90km cycling leg, Judith arrived at T2 with a significant lead over Maria Pujol. The 21km run would prove to be Judith's decisive victory, which she secured with a time of 4:34:20. Almost 20 minutes behind, in second place, came... María Pujol and the third place was for Sara Bonilla
The men took the exit 10 'after the women and Javier Cardona was the first to complete the 1900m swimming along the Ebro river. After 1' a stretched group arrived where Gustavo Rodriguez and Cristóbal Dios were, the two main favorites . The 90km of cycling were going to be for Gustavo, who soon became the solo leader and was increasing the advantage until he reached T2 in first position with a 7 ′ advantage over Cristóbal. Third in T2 was Alex Aguirretxe.
Finally the victory has been for Gustavo Rodríguez with a time of 4:08:33, who in the final 21km of the run focused on managing his lead.
