Ibiza Blue Challenge postponed to 2021

It would have to be disputed this June 6, 2020

The test that would have to be disputed this June has been forced to postpone it to the year 2021. The chosen date has been June 5.

This is the organization's statement

Dear friends of the triathlon, in relation to the BLUE CHALLENGE test that we organized on June 6, 2020 and which consists of the distance half triathlon, Olympic triathlon, swim race, night run and photo contest, we have to communicate a decision that has led us to the Covid 19 health crisis that we are currently suffering worldwide and that has the island of Ibiza with a closure of all access by ports and airports to the island in addition to the confinement of all citizens since last March 14 and which is still in force today.

The organization has delayed to the maximum the decision that we are announcing to you because the pandemic, although it has a good trend, does not seem that it will give us a truce for the organization of this test and the administrations go weekly giving new guidelines, restrictions and changing confinement dates so that the uncertainty is total and the scenario we do not think is appropriate for a test as special as the Blue Challenge.

Confinement, on the other hand, is not making it possible for athletes to properly prepare for competitions and that makes it even more complex to start in a test for which no one has been able to prepare and which requires minimal dedication.

To all this is added that athletes who have to travel and stay on the island have no guarantee of having flights, boats or hotels open for that date.

For all these reasons and in order to show solidarity with the situation, helping to make this happen as soon as possible, we do not see any option to offer a quality test designed for enjoyment this year and we do not want to add more pressure to the 2020 season with an approach to organize the test in September and October due to the huge collapse of events that we are going to have throughout Spain and Ibiza.

We hope that the situation will pass as soon as possible and that our health, an issue that matters most to us at this time, will not be affected.

You know that we are very sorry for this communication and we await your understanding with a measure that is totally alien to our will but that at this moment is what touches all of us.

The new date therefore for the next edition of the Blue Challenge will therefore be next June 5, 2021 and in the next few days the platform sportmaniacs.com will have the test with a new date and registration open for next year.
