Gandia is prepared to live a FULL ICAN described by the authorities as "historic"
Near 400 participants will participate in the first edition of FULL ICAN Gandía-Valencia
The City Council of Gandía was the scene of the official presentation of the first edition of the FULL ICAN Gandía-Valencia 2014. An event that will be held next Sunday 26 in October and that already has close to 400 participants. A presentation in which were present Sunil Bhardawj, Ican Triathlon CEO, Marcos Estruch, general director of Gandía Sports, and Rafael Redondo, president of the Valencian Triathlon Federation.
Marcos Estruch welcomed all those present on behalf of Gandía City Council and especially all participating triathletes "in one of the most important events of the year in our town" For that reason, he thanked the effort of all those who are going to make possible a competition that will start on Sunday at the 7: 30 hours and will continue until midnight.
He also thanked the efforts of institutions, volunteers or companies the CEO of Ican Triathlon, Sunil Bhardwaj, and recalled that this event will involve the presence in Gandia of more than a thousand people, including triathletes, companions and simple fans, "with an average of stay between four and ten days, with the economic impact that implies in the area. "
Finally, the president of the Valencian Triathlon Federation, Rafael Redondo, described as "historic" the FULL ICAN Gandía-Valencia 2014, since it will allow to live "a sports experience at the highest level in our Community" That is why he highlighted the effort that his federation is going to make, with the purpose of helping the triathlon on Sunday to be a resounding success.
This first FULL ICAN Gandia-Valencia will have representatives of 18 countries, among the 400 near ones inscribed. All of them must complete a distance of 3,8 kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers of cycling and 42 kilometers of running on foot, in a totally flat circuit and that according to many of the experts will be one of the fastest in Europe.
The departure of the participants will be at the 7: 30 hours in the area of the Beach next to the Yacht Club and the arrival of the first triathlete is scheduled around five in the afternoon. The closing of the competition will be after midnight on Sunday, in a test that will take place around the Port of Gandia and its spectacular promenade.
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday at the 11: 30 hours at Casa de la Marquesa (Paseo Germanías, 13), although the same Sunday will be a delivery at the finish line to the first three classifieds of the competition, both male as feminine
Gandía closes the Circuit of the ICAN Series that in this 2014 has had tests in Málaga, Nordhausen (Germany) and Benicássim (Castellón). A circuit that in 2015 will incorporate other sites such as coast of Barcelona.
