ICAN TRIATHLON Gandía successfully celebrates its 2021 edition

This weekend was played ICAN Triathlon Gandia, the only long-distance competition in the Valencian Community, also adding to the modality Full, the distances Half y Shorts.

More than 1.000 triathletes gathered in the coastal town since Friday, when the collection of numbers and material check-in was activated.

The triathletes jumped into the water on Saturday from 8.00:8.30 a.m. to 3.8:173 a.m. in different sets according to modality, gender and status of federated or non-federated. The long-distance triathletes who had 42 km of swimming, XNUMX km of cycling and XNUMX km of running ahead of them closed the swimming segment.

Gonzalo Fuentes, Nacho Villarruel and Carlos Aznar set an unstoppable pace from the start showing that they wanted the podium of the Full ICAN Triathlon Gandia 2021. Nacho Villarruel came out of the water first.

The CE Rayo Team triathlete wanted to win the first ICAN Triathlon place again, as he had done in 2020. After the cycling segment Carlos Aznar of the CDE Triboost led the test, at 1'10 he dropped Gonzalo Fuentes, Nacho Villarruel was distancing himself, who seemed to be missing the first place.

This was not the case after the running race, in which he set the best marathon time, which allowed him to place himself in 2nd position.

While Gonzalo Fuentes from Alusigma Peñota Dental Portugaletekoa took advantage of that second position after getting off the bike and managed to overtake Carlos Aznar, to take 1st position in the competition with a time of 81809. Albert Jiménez and David Navarro from Readaptat completed the top5 of the competition.

In this case, David Navarro (84611) of the Readaptat won the Long Distance Regional Championship. He would be accompanied as runner-up by Cameron Keast from CT Huracán València, and in 3rd position Ismael Matallín from Readaptat.

In the female category, 11 women faced the demanding distance. Ana Lopez from the Fitness Sports Triathlon she climbed to the 1st position of the podium with 20 ′ (110028) difference over the 2nd classified, Laura Martínez, from the Sestao Triathlon Taldea (111909).

The third place would end up going to Mónica Salamanqués, the winner of the 2020 edition, who knew the circuit well and would complete the distance in 11h 29 '34.

Half ICAN Triathlon Gandia

In the middle distance of the competition, the first 2 positions of the absolute podium for women and men were taken by triathletes from the Valencian Community Neus Lluch, from CEC Antella - Frutas Tono - Alejandro Sanz; and Miguel Fernández from Tutriatlon.com.

With just 18 difference, the second classified, Miguel Serón del Valle Aranguren, entered the finish line. Jose María Sayas de Haro got the bronze at 2'2 from the Tricanet de Berenguer.

On the women's side, Carolina Domínguez from the CDE Triboost and Eva Vayá from the DSC Triathlon who repeated at ICAN Triathlon Gandia.

The first to cross the ICAN Triathlon finish line in the short distance event, ICAN Triathlon Gandia Short, the winners were Julian Becker; Francisco Fernández-Cortés from the Albacete Triathlon; and Albert Gil from CDE Aguaverde.

In the female category, the general podium was for the triathletes of the Valencian Community, Cristina Roselló of the Tri Infinity Móstoles, who before the end of the season was encouraged by the Olympic distance; and in 2nd place Laura Esteban from CT Benirredrà. The bronze went to the Vive Club triathlete, Alma Quintana.
