Roth? Klaguenfurt? Frankfurt? ... What are the fastest Ironmans in Europe?

To obtain "the best brand" we have calculated the average time of the 10 best men, 10 best women and finally the average of these 20 times.

Since Triathlon News we have done a study among several Long Distance Triathlons  of those that were played in Europe in 2014, to find out what the faster of those who dispute in the old continent.

Before evaluating the data we want to make some notes to take into account. The first and most important thing is that in triathlon the courses are not homologated, so distances have to "trust" which are what the organizers tell us.

Another fact to take into account is the level of the triathletes, in tests where they have a high triathletic level it is "easier" to have better marks. On the other hand the weather conditions, because a test without excessive heat or wind will always be more favorable to achieve better times. Finally, mention, although it is something obvious, the route, the use or not of neoprene in swimming, and the absence of steep slopes or ports in cycling and running.

Once cited these factors we will analyze the purely numerical data To obtain "the best brand" we have calculated the average time of the 10 best men, 10 best women and finally the average of these 20 times.

IRONMAN FASTER IN EUROPE

To finish, we will say that in general times adding the average of the 10 best men and the 10 better women,

  • The fastest iroman in Europe was the one Klaguenfurt in Austria, with a time of 8h38m05s.
  • The second fastest Roth with 08h41m17s.
  • E third fastest Frankfurt with 8h43m04s.
  • The fourth position is for Barcelona with 8h45m13s.
  • The fifth position for Copenhagen with 9h2m19s.
  • The sixth position for Zurich with 9h21m51s.

As a conclusion we will say the "equality" between the four best is very tight, for a test of more than 8h and half of career ... the difference between the fastest IM in Europe and the fourth fastest, between the average times of the 10 best man and 10 best women is only 6m8s.
