Jackson Laundry surprises everyone and wins at IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside
Today a new edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside where several of the best PROS in the world have been in the test.
It highlighted the presence of Alistair Brownlee, who returned to compete after his Olympic cycle and his injury, Lioel Sanders, Rodolphe Von Berg or Ben Kanute among others.
The test began at 06:40 local time (15:40 Spanish time) with the 1.900 meter swim where Ben Kanute, Alistair Brownlee and Steven Mckenna were the fastest leading a very stretched group of triathletes.
Sanders in swimming was already losing 1:57 leaving the 24th of the water.
In the cycling segment, a group of 9 was formed in the lead that was reduced as the kilometers passed. At PK 42 Brownlee, Appleton, Kanute and Von Berg rolled together with 2 minutes over the rest of the triathletes.
In T2 this group came together, ahead of Sanders in 2:08 who started running in seventh position after having done a great cycling segment.
In the first kilometers of the run, Brownlee, Laundry and Von Berg left in front, leaving behind Kanute and Appleton.
Halfway through the segment Brownlee pulled away a bit from his competitors, going solo a few seconds ahead.
He was able to endure this advantage until the last kilometers where Jackson Laundry, which was gradually approaching him, ended up catching up with him.
