Javi Martín Plata and María Varo Bronze in the European Duathlon 2024

n an exciting day at the 2024 European Duathlon Championships, held in the historic city of Coimbra, Javi Martin y María Varo They have taken Spanish pride to the highest level by winning, respectively, the silver and bronze medals.

Since the beginning of the competition, María Varo proved to be a dominant force. Constantly staying in the lead, the initial foot race already predicted a good result.

Accompanied in the leading group by the French competitors Marion Le Goff and Marion Legrand, Varo knew how to manage her energy and position, crucial for the following phases.

The bicycle segment was equally close. Despite the efforts of competitors of various nationalities to change the pace, Varo and his group maintained a cohesion that allowed them to reach the second transition together.

In the decisive last 2.5 kilometers, the stage was set for a dramatic finish.

Although the cameras did not capture every moment, it was evident that the fight for each position was intense until crossing the finish line. María Varo, managing to overcome the disappointment of the previous year in Caorle, won bronze, a medal that Spain had not obtained since 2020 in this category.
