This year the sprint triathlon world championship will be slightly different from the previous edition as the triathletes will get points for the general Dextro Energy series of the world championship, whereas last year it was an independent competition.

In addition to the sprint event, there will be a relay event, where each team will be made up of two women and two men from the same country.
