Javier Gómez Noya, favourite in the Santander City Triathlon

This coming Sunday, September 22, the Santander City Triathlon will bring together some of the best triathletes on the national scene in a competition that has become a benchmark within the calendar Spanish sportsman.

Javier Gómez Noya, champion of last year's edition, is the big favorite to defend his title in the middle distance event that will feature the participation of renowned athletes such as Pello Osoro, Diego Mentrida, Ainhoa ​​Murua, Helene Alberdi y Irenal Arenal.

The event, organized by CD TRICICLO TEAM, will be held in two distances: middle distance and Olympic distance.

The middle distance race will start at 08:30 a.m. at Playa de la Fenómeno, while the Olympic distance will have two starts, first the women's race at 09:20 a.m. and the men's race at 09:30 a.m.

In the 2023 edition, Javier Gómez Noya He took the victory in the men's category, followed by Pello Osoro y Julen Lopetegui.

In the women's category, the podium was led by Sara alemany, with Helene Alberdi in second position and Marina Muñoz completing the podium.

This year, Gómez Noya will seek to defend his title before his participation in the T100 from Ibiza, scheduled for September 28.

The test of Olympic distance will consist of a 1.500-meter swim, a 40-kilometer cycling circuit and a 10,5-kilometer run.

Both events are limited to a total of 600 participants. In addition, the event is part of the National Ranking of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI).

Awards

As for prizes, the first classified in the Olympic distance will receive 1.000 euros, while in the middle distance the winner will take home 1.500 euros.

Prizes will be awarded to the top ten finishers in both the male and female categories, providing extra motivation for all participants.
