Javier Gómez Noya "I prefer the Olympic distance, but it must be recognized that the Sprint offers more spectacle"

On Saturday 31 at the 15.30 Spanish time is held in the British capital the fourth round of the World Series of triathlon, to which Javier Gómez Noya arrives in an unbeatable position thanks to the victory in the three previous ones: Auckland, Cape y Yokohama.

The London event presents the particularity of being disputed on the Sprint distance (750m swimming, 20 cycling and 5 on foot) that is to say half of the Olympic distance. It will be the first time that in London, where Javi, in addition to Olympic silver, has won in the 2010 and 2013 World Series, will be played at this distance, which will mean that the differences are minimal: “I prefer the Olympic distance, but it must be recognized that the Sprint offers more spectacle for television and that is why the federation wants several tests of the circuit to be on it. There is not going to be a meter in which it does not go full in any of the phases and any cut can be decisive. Also, at this distance, some triathletes who are not at such a high level in the Olympic Games may be far ahead ”.

The route will not leave the Hyde Park, with a turn in the Serpentine lake, four by bike and two on foot. Participation will be at the highest level and Spanish knows that achieving victory will be difficult: "After seen in Japan it is clear that Mola, Murray and the Brownlee are going to be ahead. But others may appear. I will try to continue with the winning streak, but in case of not achieving it the important thing is to continue adding points for the general ".

The same day is held in Pontevedra on Duathlon World Championship (10km athletics-40 cycling- 5 athletics), an appointment in which he would have liked to participate but: “The World Series is my big goal of the year, as well as my sponsors. It's a shame that coincidence of dates because it motivated me to compete at home against the pure duathlon specialists. I am grateful that the coach summoned me although I do not usually participate in duathlons, but the federation has understood that I must be in London that day. For the general, only two results from seven tests can be ruled out - apart from the final - and I want to have five good scores as soon as possible to be able to face the final with an advantage in case I have something unforeseen. Of course I hope that the World Cup in Pontevedra will be an organizational success and that the duathletes of the Spanish team are far ahead "
