Javier Gómez Noya will participate in the Madrid Half Marathon
The Movistar Half Marathon of Madrid will present on November 14 a very powerful list of elite athletes who will fight for victory in the female and male category and who they will try to attack the test records in the renewed route that is released in its twentieth edition.
Gómez Noya continues with his preparation for the long distance tests after his dismissal from the Olympic format in the last Tokyo Games and will start in the 21.097 meters test.
Up to four Kenyans arrive in Madrid with reputable marks below the hour in the distance: Jonathan Kiplimo Maiyo, Jospath Kimutai Tanui, David Ngure Irungu and Solomon Kirwa Yego.
Kimutai Tanui and Ngure Irungu leave as favorites and with their best personal records achieved this year in Berlin and Padua, respectively.
Spaniard Husamme Benabbou is the main national favorite to fight for the top spots. The Extremaduran managed to run in Valencia in 1:02:01 in 2019, and was the first Spaniard to finish in the Movistar Half Marathon in Madrid in 2018.
Among the 'Kenyan army' also stand out the proper names of riders who have completed 21.097 under 1:02 in the last three seasons and who will fight for the victory on November 14, such as Joseph Karanja, Joshua Kiplangat Belet, Ezra Kipketer Tanui, Alfred Kipchirchir Mukche, Wisley Kibichii, Ronald Kiprotich Kirui (27:56 in the 10km of Valencia) or Edwin Kibichiy.
The objective is to approach or beat the best record achieved in this test, held by Kipkemoi Kiprono with 1h01: 47.
Noya participates in the test again
Two regulars of the Movistar Half Marathon of Madrid as the triathlete Javier Gómez Noya or the madrileño Chema Martínez They have also confirmed their attendance.
The Galician Gómez Noya continues with his preparation for the long distance tests after his farewell to the Olympic format in the last Tokyo Games and will start in the 21.097 meters test.
For his part, Chema Martínez will once again run the 5 km of the ProFuturo Race, which since 2018 has been held as a test within the Movistar Half Marathon in Madrid.
This is a solidarity race in favor of education, organized by ProFuturo, the digital education program promoted five years ago by Fundación Telefónica and Fundación “la Caixa”.
In the female category there are three women who monopolize the favoritism to take the podium. The Kenyan Sandrafelis Chebet Tuie (1h07: 12 in Barcelona 2021) and Irine Jepchumba Kimais (1h07: 17 in Lens) together with the Romanian Irine Jepchumba Kimais (1h07: 45) will try to beat the record of the Cynthia Jerotich test in the female category , with 1h09: 40.
The distance debuts of Ethiopian Ayinadis Teshome Birle and Barheinian Tigist Gashaw Belay are well awaited. The cast of favorites is completed by the Kenyan women Winfridah Moraa Moseti, Nelly Jepchumba, Risper Chebet, Caroline Nyaguthii and Sheila Jebiwot, as well as the Ethiopian Alemitu Tariku Olana (1h08: 50).
The renewed route that opens on Sunday, November 14, aims to soften the profile and reduce the positive unevenness of the test, so that participants have more options to improve their marks and achieve good records.
The Movistar Half Marathon of Madrid maintains its status as "Road Race Label" of the World Athletics international federation and will comply with all health protocols to make it a safe event. The race will be broadcast live on the #Vamos de Movistar channel
