Javier Gómez Noya "This was probably my last ITU race"

The Galician triathlete Javier Gómez Noya possibly participated yesterday in what may be his last ITU test in the coming dates.

Noya finished in 25th position yesterday in the individual event of the Olympics and will focus on medium and long distance from now on, as he had already announced.

Although he now seems to rule out participating in any official race, it shouldn't be ruled out entirely, since, like Ivan Raña He has returned to competition in some federated event, so we may see Noya competing again wearing the Spanish national team jersey.

The victory was for Kristian Blummenfelt y Mario Mola he was the best Spaniard finishing in 10th position. Fernando Alarza It was 12º.

Noya in his networks has published a farewell message

"As you can imagine, I am not at all happy with my result at the Tokyo Olympics today.

After all the hard training and preparations, the body just didn't respond.

It wasn't the heat (it wasn't that hot after all), I just felt flat, I had nothing to give, but I'm not going to bore you with reasons and justifications.

In elite sport, results are what matter and today I was not good enough.

I would have liked to do better in what was probably my last ITU race, but that's life!

I have competed at ITU at the highest level for about 20 years, competing against different generations of incredible athletes, I have had incredible experiences and I am honored to be the athlete with the most victories.

It is definitely much more than you could have dreamed of!"
