Javier Gómez Noya "has been one of the best races I've done in my entire life"

The outcome could not be more spectacular, in an agonizing sprint against the Olympic gold Alistair Brownlee, which gives more value to the victory.

To the fifth came the victory for Javier Gómez Noya since in Yokohama He has achieved his first victory in the 2015 World Series, which evidently strengthens him in the leadership he had thanks to the good positions in the 4 previous triathlons.

The outcome could not have been more spectacular, in an agonizing sprint before the Olympic gold Alistair Brownlee, which gives if possible more value to victory.

Both were already in the lead in the swimming phase, with Gómez Noya playing 2º after the South African Schoeman. In the first kilometers of cycling, with 9 urban laps of 4'5km, a group of 7 triathletes was formed with Javi and Brownlee as top names. Towards the km 15 they were hunted by a group of other 15, in which they came the other Spanish 3 participants: Mola, Alarza and Hernández. Shortly after another group arrived, which configured a squad with 50 of the participating 60. This motivated the pace to slow down, which took the little-known Belgian Van Riel to escape solo.

Not being someone dangerous for the last phase, he managed to get half a minute, but unfortunately he fell on the entrance curve to the transition and lost the advantage. Gómez Noya was the first to go out for a run and it didn't take long to form a quartet in the lead with 3 Spaniards, Javi, Mola and Hernández, plus Brownlee. Towards km 3 the Canarian Hernández took off while Gómez Noya and Mola alternated at the top and with Brownlee without showing their faces. It was at km8 when Javi gave an acceleration that took Mola off the hook.

Brownlee's response came right at 9, starting an unforgettable last kilometer with both giving it their all and changing positions several times. The Briton came in the lead in the final stretch but there Javi was the fastest, and in the final 100 meters at the top he achieved the victory in the same way he did against Mario Mola in 2014: "It was a very tough final against Alistair and Mario. My tactics have been similar to Cape Town, playing it at km 8 and suffering the counterattack of Alistair. But today I could stand it until the final stage and there I gave everything and won. Of course it has been one of the best races I've done in my entire life. "

The 800 points that represent the 1ª place increase their advantage in the classification, placing him as the top favorite arrived at the equator of the 10 circuit tests: "I had a good season, with a podium in 3 of the previous 4, but without having won. I've finally achieved it and that makes me feel super satisfied, just as I hope for the rest of the season. "  With this appointment in Japan the long journey of three months away from home closes, which did not start well with the two triathlons in the Arab countries (abandonment in the Half Ironman Dubai and 6th in the 1st of the World Series in Abu Dhabi) , but that has finished in a sensational way with this victory in Japan and the solid leadership in the circuit that grants the world title. Now it is time to decide in Pontevedra the rest of the calendar, in which there will not only be scoring triathlons for the World Series.
