Javier Martín gold at the Townsville Duathlon World Championships

Marion Legrand has taken the victory in women

The Spanish athlete Javier Martín has made history by achieving an exciting victory in the men's category of the Duathlon World Championships.

With a time of 52 minutes and 25 seconds, Martín Morales beat the Frenchman Benjamin Choquert in the final part of the test.

The men's test

From the start of the event, top athletes, including Arnauld Dely and Krilan Le Bihan, set a strong pace during the first 5km lap of the race. Choquert, favorite after having been runner-up the previous year, was determined to regain the title that he had lost to Mario Mola in Ibiza 2023.

During the cycling segment, a group of nine riders closed in on the leading trio, quickly turning the race into one of the most hotly contested.

The final part of the race witnessed Martínn's decisive attack. Entering the last stage, the Spaniard managed to overtake Choquert, securing the victory.

Antonio Benito, the other Spaniard in the test finished in 11th position.

Female test

As for the women's category, the French Marion legrand took the victory with a masterful performance with a time of 58:37 followed by Richelle Hill , who has also been proclaimed champion in the under-23 category. The third on the podium was the Belgian Jeanne Dupont

There was no Spanish participation in the test.
