Jonathan Brownlee wins in the Stockholm World Series

Mario Mola seventh faces the Rotterdam Grand Final as leader of the World Championship and depends on himself to revalidate the title of Triathlon World Champion

The test was played in Olympic distance (1,5-40-10) with a fairly flat circuit except the climb to the Royal Palace of the Swedish capital.

In the passage through the first round, the group of Jonathan with 6 units passed through the transition zone with 36 seconds ahead of the chasing group already with Mario Mola, Fernando Alarza or Kristian Blummentef among others. Vicente Hernandez who did not catch a good group step to 1 minute of the head of the race.

In the 10 km of running on foot to 4 turns quite flat, except the climb to the finish line that could be decisive, Jonathan Brownlee took the reins from the start pulling the group strong to go solo for the victory.

 In the passage through the first lap Jonathan passed in first position with 11 seconds of advantage over Royle and Nieschlang. Mario Mola passed in ninth place 1 minute from the lead in a group of 9 with Le Corre, Bishop, Blumenffelt, Schoeman. Mario was climbing positions to go through the last lap in third position and 43 seconds behind Jonathan Brownlee who knew how to maintain the advantage to get his first victory this year in the circuit with a time of 1: 49: 10.

Thanks to a great swimming a good group in cycling and a great race on foot the British triathlete has achieved his first victory this season in a WTS.

In an exciting fight for second place we could see an attack of Kristian Bluenffelt  stretching the group in search of the last decisive climb to face the last kilometer of the race where broke the group by picking up Mario Mola and getting the second place followed by Pierre Le Corre disputing a tight sprint. Mario Mola finally he was seventh and Vicente Hernández 16o.

After the test today, Mario Mola faces the Grand Final of the World Series in Rotterdam next September 16 as the leader of the circuit and depends on it to revalidate the world title achieved last year.
