Kenneth Gasque leaves the Ironman Lanzarote

Kenneth Gasque worked for more than 35 years at Club La Santa, doing an incredible job with his Green Team, with the activities and events of the hotel, and also, with the well-known sporting events.

According to the newspaper lanzaroteesd.comThis past Saturday, El Club La Santa, dismissed its sports director in style, after more than 35 years as part of its team. Thus, Kenneth Gasque ends a stage with the Club Santa although it will continue to lead its own brand with which it organizes different sporting events.

Kenneth, arrived at Lanzarote from the hand of Club La Santa, moving to the island in 1983, two years before participating in his first Ironman of Hawaii, in 1985. The same year in which he participated in his first Hawaiian Ironman, he organized, already as sports director of Club La Santa, the first international triathlon on Spanish soil, the Volcano triathlon.

His fondness for triathlon led him to return to three more times to the Ironman of Hawai, completing it in the 4 editions that participated. (1985, 1987, 1989 and 2005). It was after participating for the first time in this sporting event, when he decided that Lanzarote could also host a test like this, since in addition to being a volcanic island like Hawaii, it also had all the conditions to host an Ironman, born in the year 1992, the Ironman of Lanzarote, which many athletes consider to be the toughest in the world. Since the 1992 year, until today he has directed the Lanzarote Ironman, making it a reference event, not only on the island, but also in the world.

But Kenneth Gasque has not only captained the Ironman of Lanzarote in a spectacular way, but he has also done it in other important sports events, such as the Ocean Lava or the Wine Run Lanzarote, making a long career in the organization of sporting events on the island, a fact for which the Island Council of Lanzarote awarded him the Lanzarote Island prize, for the decisive work he has done to raise awareness around a new way of tourism, taking as a flag the sporting spirit during the more than 30 years that has been settled on the island.

Kenneth closes a very important stage of his life, with the Club La Santa, but will continue leading the organization of sporting events renowned, as el Ocean Lava, that contribute to consolidate LanzaroteESD as an important sport destination in Europe.

The new race director is Fabio Cabrera.

From Triathlon News we wish Kenneth Gasque the best success in this new way
