Arrecife was for the fourth year the scenario of the Ocean Lava Arrecife - Lanzarote Triathlon 2017, celebrating the eighth edition of the international event, bringing together more than 200 participants and about fifteen countries represented.

A very hot day that all the participants had, enjoying the demanding tour and obtaining the prize of becoming a finisher of the Ocean Lava Arrecife - Lanzarote Triathlon 2017. Kenneth Vandendriessche y AMelia Rose, they were the absolute winners of the eighth edition of Ocean Lava.

Early on Saturday morning the triathletes began to concentrate in the vicinity of the beach of El Reducto, area from which was going to give the outlet to Ocean Lava Arrecife - Lanzarote Triathlon 2017. The fact that only the Olympic modality was disputed did not diminish participation, being more than 200 triathletes who took the start. All of them had to complete a distance of 1,5 kilometers by swimming, 46 kilometers by bicycle and 10 kilometers of running, and all this on a Saturday day marked by the heat and the absence of wind.

Bonita struggles that was registered in the top positions of the male category, with several triathletes who began to mark the differences in the segment of swimming developed on the beach of El Reducto. The Belgian Kenneth Vandendriessche he took the lead of the race and crossed the finish line as the winner with a time of 2 hours, 4 minutes and 1 seconds. Ricardo Hernández (2: 06: 35) took second place on the podium and David Arteaga (2: 09: 09) climbed to third place on the podium.

Disputada was also the female category of the Ocean Lava Arrecife - Lanzarote Triathlon 2017, being Amelia Rose Watkinson the one that took control of the leadership in the segment of the bicycle and increasing its advantage in the race on foot. Amelia Rose scored the victory with a time of 2 hours, 22 minutes and 37 seconds. The Canary Islands Delioma González (02: 26: 48) defended tooth and nail the second place in the general and the third position was for Tessa Kortekaas (02: 27: 38).

The eighth edition of the Ocean Lava Arrecife - Lanzarote Triathlon 2017 was scoring for the Canary Triathlon Series, a competition organized by the Canary Federation of Triathlon. Raúl Lecuona, leader until the moment of the Canary Triathlon Series, could not be present in the island of Lanzarote, when the flight that had to move him from Tenerife was canceled. In the women's category, Delioma González adds some important points to continue fighting for the leadership.

With the arrival of all the participants to the finish line, we proceeded to award trophies of the Ocean Lava Arrecife - Lanzarote Triathlon, event that was attended by Jacobo Lemes, Councilor for Sports of the City of Arrecife, and Echedey Eugenio, Tourism Minister of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The first six finishers in the men's and women's categories were awarded, and the winners of the age groups also received their champions' medal. Like every edition, the Ocean Lava Arrecife - Lanzarote Triathlon awarded the champions of each year of birth.
