Kevin Tarek third at the Karlovy Vary Triathlon World Cup

This weekend a new edition of the C was heldKarlovy Vary Triathlon World Cup, one of the most emblematic events on the international calendar.

In this edition, the American John Reed and the Dutch Maya Kingma took gold in their respective categories, while the Spanish Kevin Tarek Viñuela González achieved his first podium in a World Cup, obtaining a remarkable third place.

At 29 years Kevin Tarek has had an exceptional season, coming into this event after being crowned Aquathlon World Champion.

In the foot race Kevin Tarek He maintained the lead of the race until kilometer 5, at which point he was overtaken by the Norwegian. Casper Stornes and American John Reed.

Although it was John Reed who, with an impressive change of pace in the last kilometers, managed to distance himself from Stornes to cross the finish line in 1:54:24.

Casper Stornes arrived 9 seconds later and Kevin Tarek, 25 seconds behind the winner, third, thus achieving his first podium in a World Cup.

The men's podium was completed by the German eric diener and the Hungarian Márk Dévay, who finished in fourth and fifth position respectively.

"It couldn't have been a better setting, a historic Olympic distance event with demanding circuits, and being the first Spaniard to make the podium since the World Cup.

I was particularly happy to achieve this, arriving alone at T2 with a slight advantage, after having collaborated throughout the cycling segment.

In the women's competition, Maya Kingma She demonstrated why she is one of the most outstanding triathletes of the moment.

With a time of 2:05:23, she comfortably beat the Czech Petra Kurikova already the American one gina serene, who completed the podium.

The Dutchwoman controlled the race from the start, setting the pace both in the water and on the bike, which allowed her to reach the finish line with little opposition.
