Blummenfelt and Iden will face each other this weekend in the middle distance
Kristian Blummenfelt y Gustav Iden, The two Norwegian triathletes who have dominated world triathlon in recent years will face each other this weekend in the Samarkand Challenge.
This exciting duel takes place just over a month after the return of the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona (Hawaii).
The last time they competed head-to-head was a year ago at the Singapore PTO Open, where Blummenfelt won after Iden had to retire following a bike crash. That incident marked the end of a difficult season for the reigning IRONMAN world champion.
Next Sunday, September 8, in addition to Kristian and Gustav, other outstanding triathletes will be on the starting line such as Rich Bogen, Thomas Bishop, Thor Bendix Madsen, gaetan fetaud y Ruben Zepuntke.
Blummenfelt and Iden have been the stars of triathlon in recent years. Blummenfelt achieved a historic double in 2022, winning the IRONMAN World Championship and the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, as well as Olympic gold at Tokyo 2021 and the ITU World Series.
Iden is the latest winner and record holder of the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, where he achieved a historic victory in 2022. He is also a two-time 70.3 world champion (Nice 2019 and St. George 2021).
