FETRI postpones competitions during the months of March and April

La Spanish Federation of Triathlon has sent a statement explaining the situation of our sport, in relation to Coronavirus

 The tests affected are:

• Spanish Half Distance Duathlon Championship
• Qualifiers for the Spanish Duathlon Championship in Tomelloso and Peguera
• Duathlon, Avilés and Soria Spanish Championships

 From the Spanish Triathlon Federation, given the situation of uncertainty generated by the transmission of the Coronavirus COVID-19, and how could it be otherwise, we are sfollowing the recommendations of the Government of Spain and the health and sports authorities, with whom we are in permanent communication.

 Following these guidelines it is decided postpone official federated state-level competitions to be celebrated in the months of March and April, with the objective of safeguarding the correct planning of the athletes and clubs in this part of the season, and especially protect the development of the Duathlon and the Club League.

 These tests will be located at another time in the 2020 calendar, for which work is always being done within the provisional nature that the current situation of exceptional health requires.

 The following competitions are therefore affected:

•  Spanish Middle Distance Duathlon Championship, postponed pending date in the last months of the year.
•  Qualifiers for the Spanish Duathlon Championship in Tomelloso and Peguera, deferred in the same situation.
•  Duathlon, Avilés and Soria Spanish Championships, deferred in the same situation, pending evolution, for the dates of October 10 and 11 in Avilés, and October 24 and 25 in Soria.

After agreeing the measure with the City Councils of both cities, which in both cases have thanked the Federation for its proactive response and its willingness to facilitate the organization and planning of the athletes, communicating the decisions taken as soon as possible.

The Spanish MD and LD Triathlon Cup under study

 Additionally, the FETRI Competitions Department will submit to the Sports Committee a proposal for measures to help stabilize the Duathlon sports project in the Federation, due to the changes that the calendar has to undergo, and It will study what may affect competitions such as the Spanish MD and LD Triathlon Cup, with the start scheduled for next April.

 In this sense, we want to add that we will continue taking the relevant decisions based on the guidelines set by the Government and the relevant authorities, and at all times trying to avoid the least harm to all the groups that make up the Federation, and to all the institutions involved with our headquarters.
