The FETRI sends proposals to the DGT to improve the cyclist's safety.

They request, among others, road education campaigns in schools, road signs and more exemplary sanctions.

 

Currently, work is being done to create a  New Rules of the road  and taking advantage of the occasion can include rules that offer greater safety to the cyclist on the road.

 

 

 La Spanish Federation of Triathlon has published on its website a series of proposals that it has made available to the DGT to convey the safety concerns of road cyclists.

 

On October 1, Rafa Redondo Collado, President of the Sports Committee of the FETRI, and Jorge García, Director of Competitions of the FETRI, held a meeting, with faith from the Unit of Ordination and Regulations, of the DGT, which was interested in the proposals made.

 

Below in summary mode, we expose some of the proposals delivered by the FETRI:

 

A system of training drivers how to drive when you meet a cyclist or group of cyclists

 

  • Campaigns of vial education in schools,
  • Una greater signage on the tracks to raise awareness and remind drivers of the need to store 1,5 lateral separation meters
  • Most exemplary sanctions for drivers who fail to comply with regulations and who are generally the protagonists of these accidents
  • Within Security campaigns of the DGT include specific campaigns to control overtaking bicycles with sanctions
  • Implement the helmet on all roads.
  • Campaigns of safety promotion of the cyclist on television
  • Use of road panels and highways for the good of campaigns respecting the cyclist
  • Increase the number of Kilometers of exclusive segregated lanes for cyclists
