La Vuelta Quebrantahuesos bets on triathlon
A prestigious brand in the cycling world like the Bearded Vulture, with the incorporation of Octagon Esedos and the Peña Ciclista Edelweis and their human potential, now sponsor two new sporting events, a triathlon on August 5 and a mountain bike event that will be the Spanish MTB Marathon Championship on September 23.
In the presentation of these new activities they have highlighted that they aspire to enhance the economic and social impact of the international cycle tour, just as its organizers have highlighted the Quebrantahuesos volunteers who continue to be the differentiating point with other national and international cycling events, for the treatment and service they give to cycle tourists.
For the first time, the headquarters of the Alto Gállego Region has hosted the presentation of the tests with the assistance of the president of the region, Pedro Grasa, the mayor of Sabiñánigo, Jesús Lasierra, the president of the Peña Ciclista Edelweiss, Fernando Escartín, his vice president, Roberto Iglesias, and the president of Octagon Esedos, Xavier Bartolí.
Its promoters have highlighted that with the experience of the cycle tourist they have launched to create these two new sporting events, because they will have the support of the fans and that they generate wealth and movement at different times of the year. With its presentation in Sabiñánigo, others will follow and the Cycle Tourist March is working on its greater dissemination on general television with a documentary that captures the spirit of the Quebrantahuesos, which for many begins in their private effort, with personal stories, as well such as expanding the number of participants.
This Tuesday a meeting with the Civil Guard has been scheduled in Huesca to discuss the operation of the Quebrantahuesos cycle tour and the Treparriscos on June 23.
With reference to the tests, the QH Triathlon is counted on August 5 in the Lanuza reservoir as the nerve center and will consist of a distance of 1.900 meters in swimming, 80 kilometers in cycling with four mountain passes, and another 20 kilometers in running. on foot from Lanuza to Sallent de Gállego and a circuit through the streets of this town. This is a mountain modality that in Europe does not have many tests. The number of registered for it is limited to 500 people, although from the organization that already with 300 it will be a great triumph.
The QH Mountain Bike will take place on September 23 in Sabiñánigo and will be a qualifying event for the Spanish championship, although the organizers' goal is for it to be a World Championship within two years. Different routes have been seen and the decision of the Spanish Cycling Federation is still pending, expecting a participation that exceeds 1.500 cyclists.
This year's cycle tour already has 11.000 registered, of the 18.0000 people who pre-registered, and of them 159 are members of the Peña Edelweiss and 240 people invited by it. From Octagón it was regretted that so many cycle tourism lovers who trust in it will be left out.
The local and regional authorities have stated that the Quebrantahuesos is a potential for the entire territory, and that they are currently supported with infrastructure and personnel. From any town or city, at this moment, they would be bidding to have an activity with this potential and that is now becoming more enriched.
