Triathlete Beth Potter breaks the world record in 5K on the road

The record is awaiting ratification by the World Athletics

Triathletes continue to show that our sport is one of the most complete, being very competitive in other sports.

In addition to the examples of Mario Mola In her participations in athletics or as the now cyclist Javier Romo, Champion of Spain under23, a Scottish triathlete has broken the world record of 5K on the road.

Beth Potter has done it in barrowford establishing the new world record with 14:41 beating the previous one in 2 seconds established by the Kenyan Beatrice Chepkoech.

Potter has risen to the top again after winning last week in the SLT Arena Games in London.

Beth has achieved this time with the sneakers with the new Asics Metaspeed Sky sneakers, which is causing a controversy on social networks

Waiting for World Athletics ratification

Although Potter stopped the clock at 14:41, you have to wait for ratification of this time by the World Athletics.

UK Athletics only recognizes races that have a Run Britain license, it seems that this test does. It also has the authorization of the Association of Running Clubs (ARC), although the latter never appears in the official records

When it comes to world records, the world governing body requires a series of very strict factors to be met, the homologation of the route, anti-doping control, number of laps, unevenness of the race, etc.

We will have to wait for the ratification of the world body to validate this record

Potter will not be at the Games

Although the Scotswoman has shown that she has a high level, achieving several victories in the last year, she has not been selected to compete in the Tokyo Games since they have selected Vicky Holland, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Jessica Learmonth.

Potter won the World Cup in Valencia in 2020, was second in Arzachena and has just won the SLT Arena Games in London
