A vibrant edition of the Lanzarote International Running Challenge 2024 concludes

The 35th edition of the Lanzarote International Running Challenge, organized by Club Santa in collaboration with the Tinajo Town Hall, the Lanzarote Island Council and Lanzarote Sports Destination, has come to an end after five days of intense sporting activity.

With the participation of more than 1.000 runners from 27 different countries, this event has established itself as one of the major annual running events on the island.

The race started with the traditional night run, which served as a fun opening in which adults and children shared their passion for sport, accompanied by live music, food trucks and a festive atmosphere that filled the town of Tinajo with light.

In this race, the winners of the four-kilometer distance were Hugo Perez Robayna (12: 07) and Anita Hor (13:41), while the first to cross the finish line in the seven kilometers were Laurens Verluyten (22: 07) and Nina Falck Najbjerg (26: 32).

The development of the Lanzarote International Running Challenge

On Monday, the competition moved to a more challenging environment with the 13K Ridge Run, which took the runners around one of the volcanoes near Club La Santa.

Colm Parnell won this stage with a time of 47:02, while Catherine Thornton He shined again by completing it in 53:19.

In the team modality, the fastest were Milton Buzzards Men A in the men's category and Sportsworld A in the feminine.

Sand and resistance in the 5K Beach Run

On Tuesday, the athletes faced the 5K Beach Run, a race that took place on Los Pocillos Beach, leading runners to challenge the sandy surface.

Again, Colm Parnell was the fastest with a time of 17:33, while Nina Falck Najbjerg dominated the women's category, completing the course in 21:00.

In the team classification, Crusaders AC y Sportsworld A They maintained their streak by being the best of the day.

The Vuelta de Tinajo: the great final challenge

The competition culminated yesterday Wednesday with The Return of Tinajo, the longest stage of the Lanzarote International Running Challenge, with a 21-kilometre route that combined asphalt and dirt roads, surrounding part of the Tinache Mountain.

 In this final stage, Colm Parnell (1: 09: 34) and Catherine Thornton (1:20:33) were crowned champions, demonstrating their superiority throughout the event. In the team category, Milton Buzzards y Sportsworld A took the victory in their respective categories.
