Lucy Bartholomew aims to make history: UTMB and IRONMAN in just 3 weeks
Lucy Bartholomew, an Australian trail running athlete, is preparing to close the season with great challenges.
After having completed the UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc), a 171-kilometer race in Mont-Blanc, France, Bartholomew will compete this weekend at the Women's World Championships HOMBRE DE HIERRO in Nice
He already participated in the 2 tests last year
Bartholomew, who already achieved the feat of finishing the UTMB and the Ironman World Championship in the same year in 2023, faces an even greater challenge this year, as both competitions are separated by just three weeks.
In 2023, Bartholomew became the seventh person, and second woman, to complete this double. At the UTMB, she finished in tenth place in the elite women's category, while at the Kona World Championships she achieved a time of 10:43:41, with a marathon time of 3 hours and 30 minutes.

This year, Bartholomew has improved his time at the UTMB compared to 2023, finishing in tenth position with a time of 25:55:31, improving by 1 minute and 40 seconds compared to the previous year.
Only 3 weeks difference between tests
With less recovery time before this year's Ironman World Championship, Bartholomew She feels more prepared than ever. The experience she gained at last year's Ironman and the fact that she stayed in the same country for both events has allowed her to better focus on her main objective: Nice.
“I have no discomfort or injuries after the UTMB, which is a big advantage compared to last year,” he said. Bartholomew“I’ve been eating like a family of five for the last week and I’ve been very intuitive with how I move my body and sleep to recover,” she tells triathlonmagazine.
“My plan for the next few weeks is to cycle and swim a bit, just to remind my body of these sports, and run sometimes, but not too intensely. I prefer to arrive in Nice fresh and motivated, rather than overtrained and exhausted.”
Bartholomew She is particularly excited about the bike course in Nice, a circuit with steep slopes that will allow her to take advantage of her strength in tests with changes in altitude.
