Magnus Ditlev leaves T100 to focus on IRONMAN

The danish triathlete Magnus Ditlev, One of the most prominent figures on the international scene, he has decided to put the T100 circuit on hold to concentrate completely on the IRONMAN Pro Series.

After a remarkable career that included a second position in the T100 overall standings in 2024, Ditlev faces 2025 with a clear objective: to proclaim himself IRONMAN World Champion in Nice

A 180 degree turn in your calendar

Over the past few seasons, Ditlev has combined middle and long distance events with outstanding results. However, the athlete recently announced in his social media that will give a complete turn to your calendar for this year.

For him, the key is to reduce the volume of competitions and focus on improving specific aspects of his performance.

For this reason, Ditlev has chosen to step away from the T100 series, where he had proven to be one of the most consistent, with triumphs such as the victory in the inaugural round of Miami or the race record in Challenge Roth. Now, all his efforts are directed towards the 2025 IRONMAN World Championship.

Nice, the obsession for 2025

The 2025 IRONMAN World Championship will be held in Nice, France, a venue that promises to be highly challenging in swimming, cycling and running.

Ditlev is excited to return to the circuit after finishing second at the 2024 IRONMAN World Championships and third in 2023. The Danish athlete is confident that thorough planning, coupled with highly specific training, will allow him to make the definitive leap to first place on the podium.

The French circuit is renowned for its demanding courses and coastal scenery, so Ditlev is confident he can show his full potential in what he considers “the most important event of the year”.

Second place in the T100, but with new goals

Despite finishing second in the annual T100 rankings in 2024, Ditlev sees his biggest challenge as improving areas of his performance that he believes still need strengthening. In particular, he mentions his swimming as a point to work on.

"My biggest motivation is to become an IRONMAN World Champion“Ditlev said in a statement on Instagram.

"For me, this means dedicating myself solely to the IRONMAN Pro Series in 2025. I want to have the time and freedom to polish weaknesses such as the swimming segment, where I have suffered in recent editions of the World Championships.".

The route to the top of the IRONMAN

Looking ahead to the season, Ditlev will compete in specific IRONMAN Pro Series competitions, although he has not yet revealed the full schedule.

He will most likely choose events where he can examine his progress in the water, measure his main rivals and, above all, accumulate quality kilometres that will serve as preparation for Nice.

The tactic of reducing the number of races has emerged as a key tool to arrive at the World Championship in top form. In addition, with this decision, Ditlev seeks to minimise wear and tear and increase concentration on his main discipline, without the distractions of the competitive T100 calendar.

How does your departure from the T100 affect you?

Magnus Ditlev's departure opens the door to new scenarios in the T100 category, where other top-level triathletes will fight for the throne that the Dane has left unfulfilled.

His absence will undoubtedly allow new talent to shine on the circuit in what is expected to be a very tight season. However, Ditlev is clear that his absolute priority is the IRONMAN World Championship, and his decision to step aside from the T100 is a strategic move designed to maximise his performance.

With an eye on the World Cup in Nice

Ultimately, Ditlev hopes to arrive at Nice without any blemishes in his performance. His second place in 2024 and third place in 2023 confirm the idea that he is constantly improving. My goal is first place and I will not rest until I achieve it.", has declared.
